Vallejo police Friday afternoon raided a small medical marijuana dispensary, arresting one man.

The mid-afternoon raid by police, aided by Solano County Narcotics Enforcement, was at Natures Love in the 300 block of Tennessee Street.

Mark Hewitt, 58, of Vallejo, was arrested on suspicion of selling marijuana. Police did not confirm if Hewitt was the owner of the dispensary.

The windowless dispensary in a light purple building was accessed through an alley entrance. A resident of the area said the dispensary had been in business only a few months, and had generated some heavy traffic in the alley.

Matt Shotwell, the operator of Greenwell Cooperative, the once raided and closed dispensary, was at the raid location. Shotwell’s dispensary was the first one raided in Vallejo in February.

Since then, there have been five other raids of four dispensaries around town. Better Health Group on Sonoma Boulevard was raided twice.

Before Friday’s raid, Vallejo police raided Life Enhancement Services at 650 Benicia Road on April 20, commonly known as “4/20,” a day celebrating marijuana usage.

The identity of the man taken into custody Friday, and if anything was seized from the dispensary were not immediately available.
