Durango Herald, 3/17/12 For the first time in at least five years in January, the category of “grocery and drug” became the biggest source of sales-tax revenue for the city of Durango, generating $373,436, a growth of 5 percent over the previous year. Tanya Garduno, who recently took over Nature’s Own Wellness Center and also is the president of the Colorado Springs Medical Cannabis Council, credits sales-tax revenue from medical marijuana for helping the city of Colorado Springs out of a tight budgetary situation.
